Antique Hand Painted Ancient Roman Soldier in Helmet Shaving  Mug - 3 1/8"
Porcelain is in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or breaks, and only very minor inclusions or irregularities in the surface, including a small bump in the basin of the bowl of the cup. Hand painted polychrome elements are in good condition, but with some gaps in the back of the area behind the hand painted head of the man. Hand painted gold gilt elements show moderate to extensive wear, particularly of the ring surrounding the central decoration. Gold bands at top and bottom are nearly entirely worn away, as is the gold on the handle. Some soil on the mug may be ancient remnants of soap or shaving products.
