    Description

From BERECHURCH CAMP 186. A notorious UK, prison camp that once held high ranking Germans such as Rudolph Hess, and Uboat commanders. The camp held 6000 Germans and literally turned into a town even having a newspaper press which most likely produced this officer presentation item.
Quarto craft portfolio (10 1/2 inches x 7 1/2 inches) with Carved monogram in wood (H L) applied to front.
Typed note signed by the Campleader : Deilin C.4 addressed to Hauptmann H. Lambert Zur freundlichen Erinnerung an das P.o.W - Camp 186.
Folio contains 21 lino cut prints on toned thin paper by A. Schmidt: of these 13 are signed and 8 are unsigned.
There is minor wear to the cloth hinges of the portfolio otherwise all is in very good order. Berechurch was one of the largest prisoner of war camps and was closed in 1946. This item appears to be a thank you parting gift to Captain H. Lambert. Very rare WWII POW Flash Art! Absolutely museum grade. Would make an amazing addition to any prisoner of war collection.
