    Description

Germany Third Reich Intelligence Officer and Spy, Willie Leube, mails German Flight Cover to Argentina with German Scott #s C58 and C54 in VF Grade Canceled 1937 Pforzheim, Germany and Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a Very Fine Condition.  The Cover also bares the South American Flight Cancel in pink.  The Sender is Willie Leube; also known as Hugo Willi Leube who was a German Intelligence Officer and Spy for the Third Reich and a member of the NSDAP and the DAF.  He was born October 17, 1903, in Pforzheim, Germany.  His Passport was No. 157 R/ 131/39 issued in Berlin, April 30, 1937.  Leube lived and worked out of Pforzheim, Germany and had connections in Spain and Argentina.  Leube mailed this cover (and letter no longer available) to Sigfredo Chlamtatsch-Clamans of Buenos-Aires, Argentina (of whom nothing is known) on April 17, 1937, finalizing his plans to travel to Argentina.  Leube then traveled from Pforzheim, Germany to the Port of Bilbao, Spain on April 30, 1937.  From there, he traveled to Buenos-Aires, Argentina and disappeared.  Willie Leube is on the List of Protected Germans in Spain.  The Governments of both Spain and Argentina were sympathetic to the German cause and governments and while they were not direct allies in the War effort, they maintained close ties. Many German officials "disappeared" in Spain and Argentina in which their original identities were destroyed and changed so that they could no longer be tracked.  So, is and was the case with Willie Leube.  This is a rare and historic Third Reich and Pre WW II find and an original artifact.  With the purchase, a 1-page biography will be included as well as the documented source.  Estimated Market Value = 0.
