The Toronto International Film Festival may be over — but that doesn’t mean the shine of celebrity has worn off this city quite yet.
Some of the entertainment industry’s biggest stars spent the last two weeks in Toronto. They premiered new movies and walked the red carpet. But they also ate, drank and partied at restaurants across the city.
Here’s where some of the celebrities were spotted.
This downtown Thai restaurant, which is on Michelin’s recommended list, has long been a hot spot for celebrities visiting Toronto. It’s been patronized by Guillermo del Toro, Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Christoph Waltz, M. Night Shyamalan and a whole host of pro athletes.
This year, the restaurant added legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, in town to premiere the controversial “Megalopolis,” to the list.
Dylan O’Brien, who appears in the new “Saturday Night” movie, was also spotted at the restaurant.
TIFF marked the world premiere of “Riff Raff,” a dark comedy telling the story of a family reunion gone wrong. Bill Murray plays a member of the Mafia — but had enough time to make a pit stop at King Street bar Paris Texas.
He appeared as part of a set with American DJ Diplo.
Matty Matheson is a celebrity in his own right. The Canadian chef has nearly two million followers on Instagram and stars in “The Bear,” which he also produces.
But he’s also been a staple in the Toronto food scene for more than a decade. His local restaurants include Matty’s Patty’s, Cà Phê Rang and Maker Pizza.
One of those restaurants — perhaps Prime Seafood Palace, the incognito fine-dining steak house on Queen West — was visited by Will Poulter. The “On Swift Horses” actor told etalk that he went to one of Matheson’s restaurants.
“That was amazing. That was really, really great,” Poulter said. “It’s the best food around.”
The celebrities didn’t just stick to King and Queen streets. South Korean actors Hyun Bin and Lee Dong-wook were spotted on Bloor at Mapo Korean BBQ, just east of Christie Pits.
The pair appeared in the spy-thriller “Harbin,” which had its world premiere at TIFF.
This glitzy Mediterranean experience won’t officially open in Toronto until Sept. 26, but it hosted multiple parties at TIFF with series star-power.
Francis Ford Coppola and “Megalopolis” stars Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito and Nathalie Emmanuel partied at the restaurant, which is at Bay and Adelaide streets.
Pamela Anderson showed up for a party of her own, celebrating the premiere of “The Last Showgirl.”
Demi Moore, once the world’s highest-paid actress and star of “G.I. Jane” and “Ghost,” also dined there, as did Margaret Qualley, best known for her role in 2019’s “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.”
Sam Worthington — star of the “Avatar” movies — made an appearance there, too.
Will Ferrell debuted his documentary “Will & Harper” at TIFF. It follows a road trip across the U.S. with his friend Harper Steele, who had recently come out as transgender.
Ferrell celebrated the premiere at Daphne, which describes itself as a “stunning new restaurant … offering a modern American experience in Toronto’s financial district.”
Demi Moore also visited Daphne for a Variety cover party.
Nobu was another popular party spot, hosting Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña to celebrate the premiere of “Emilia Pérez.”
Actress Kiernan Shipka, most recently appearing in “Longlegs” and “Twisters,” and singer Anderson .Paak also stopped by Nobu.
The Japanese restaurant just south of King and Peter streets opened only a few weeks ago.
